My name is Ian Mullen and I hail from the city of Manchester in the UK. I've loved drawing as ever since I was little, but buying a Wacom a few years ago really opened my eyes the possibilities of digital painting and i've been hard at it ever since.
I've loved to doodle and paint for as long as I can remember. I think my parents realised that it was a good way of keeping me quiet and out of trouble!
What are some of your major art influences?
The biggest influence are probably the guys from ConceptArt.org. The first time someone impartial takes a good long look at your work and tells what isn't working and why, is a real eye opener.
What are some of your major genre influences?
I've always been inspired by the art in comics by Mike Mignola, Masamune Shirow, Dave Gibbons, the designs in films such a Star Wars, Alien(s) & predator and games like Final Fantasy, Baldurs Gate and System Shock.
What sort of training/schooling/experience do you have with art?
Apart from school and college, i'm totally self-taught.
How did you become involved in Empty Room Studios?
I met Tom Scholes on ConceptArt.org and he recommended me as a colourist to Jeremy Mohler.
